"TRAVELING VERY LONG"
A tribute to NIKO CAVADIA
A tribute to the sea poet Nikos Kavvadias and his poems will be presented on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 8.30pm at the Bank of Cyprus Outdoor Theater on Faneromeni Street in Old Nicosia. Rita Antonopoulou performs music by Thanos Mikroutsikos, 40 years after the release of the album (1979). It features Michalis Pourgouridis and Konstantinos Stylianou accompanied by musicians: Alexandros Papacharalambous (percussion), Barbara Loucas (Bio) Li), Costas Hallouma (acoustic bass) and Konstantinos Zorpa (piano and orchestras). Nikos Kavvadia's poems will also be featured in other works of music by Thanos Mikroutsikos, by Xhebarkous, Marisa Koch, Giannis Spano and Dimitris Zervoudakis.
In a note by Michalis Pourgouridis who edits this tribute, he states:
Nikos Kavvadia's songs have been following us for many years. Ever since we began to "shape" the world around us, "Kuro Siwo", "Thessaloniki", "Djibouti Negro Heater", "Federico" Garcia Lorca 'became solid bases for us to make our own journeys though one of the two' materials' was the sea through poetry and its strange stories. The second was music by Thanos Mikroutsikos (1979) if and was preceded by John Spanos in "The Third Anthology" in 1975 and "The Ideal and Unworthy Lover". 1979 was a catalyst year for the "Cross of the South" slowly falling into the market as Kavvadias began to enter the lips of the audience he was singing, even without chants in most of the songs (a typical sample of Mikroutsikos' writing) all that way. then "unknown" poems. "The Knife", "Piceria", "Esmeralda", "Woman" followed by "Qaradi", "Alladinos' Light" and "Horizon Lines" and some other song reappearances. Then the "Xebarkis" came and gave it Their point of view and deposit that I found not only interesting but touched me a lot. As we have been touched by individual songs of various singers we will present. All are pieces that have been "tested" in both discography and radio and see with respect and respect the central person that is none other than our beloved poet. we present is, above all, authentic because we chose Rita Antonopoulou who also inspired Thanos Mikroutsikos and has been working with her for years, but mainly because she gives a new interpretive to these pieces giving them From then on we also follow the "Cross of the South", the "Aldebaran", the "Marea", and listen to the "Marabu", passing another "Traverse" and feeling like traveling in a " Pussy. " Surely our 'Shift' is great for those that will never end! Tickets can be purchased online from Soldoutickets at Stephanis and Soeasystores
