WOODEN SOUNDS
Where: PALLAS CINETHEATRE NICOSIA
When: 31/10/21
Tickets: €12 | €10 (students, soldiers, senior citizens)
Duration: 50' (no break)
About the event:
The concert focuses on the wooden sounds of the violin, the viola, the cello, and the marimba, by presenting marimba as a solo instrument through important pieces of its repertoire. Specifically, five works will be presented, offering a variety of techniques and dialogue approaches between the marimba and the string quartet. The program also includes the work Fertility Rites by the Greek composer Christou Hatzi for solo marimba and digital sound. Inspired by the singing technique of Inuit Throat, Fertility Rites is a haunting and rather expressive work. It is considered innovative in the way that it combines live percussive music with digital sound, that is, a combination of prerecorded marimba and Inuit Throat sounds.
The event is of mixed attendance and entry is allowed upon presenting one of the following certificates:
1. Negative rapid or pcr test within 72 hours
2. Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate with at least one dose and three weeks have elapsed
3. Certificate of release from covid-19 disease within the last six months.
