About the event:
A magical night dedicated to poetry set to music by the eternal Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis. With the "Mikis Theodorakis" Popular Orchestra, Dimitris Bassis and Savveria Margiola.
Attendance at the Event is at 75% of venue capacity is allowed upon presenting one of the following certificates:
1. For people over the age of 18, Certificate of a Completed Vaccination Scheme or Certificate of Release from Covid-19 disease within the last six months or Negative PCR test with a validity of 72 hours
2. For people between the ages of 12-17, Certificate of a Completed Vaccination Scheme or Certificate of Release from Covid-19 disease within the last six months or Negative PCR test or Rapid test with the validity of 72 hours
3. For people between the ages 6-11, negative Rapid test or PCR test within 7 days or Certificate of Release from Covid-19 disease within the last six months
4. For children under the age of 6 attendance is allowed without presenting any Certificate
More about the event:
Mikis Theodorakis himself has repeatedly stated that with his music he always sought to serve poetry, which is why many of his works are based on poems by Ritsos, Seferis, Elytis, Anagnostakis, Karyotakis, Gatsos, Cavafy, Solomos, Sikelianos and so many others. It is equally true that over the years poetry has been "serving" his music. There are poetic works that we can no longer be read without the music of Mikis Theodorakis emerging effortlessly within us and flowing from the mind to the lips in order for this meeting place to become a cornerstone of our collective memory and self-knowledge.
The "Mikis Theodorakis" Popular Orchestra was founded 24 years ago by musicians - collaborators of Mikis Theodorakis, who had played with composer and knew his body of work well. Today it consists of 10 renowned musicians, with Thanasis Vassilas as the Musical Director and Margarita Theodoraki as the Artistic Director.
