More about the event:
Antigone, buried alive in the underground crypt, is in deep despair. She reflects on how things unfolded. She does not regret her act and decided to complete her sacrifice by committing suicide, but her will for life and her love for Aemon stop her. In pain she hesitates, until she makes her final decision.
Opera was born in Italy, as the culmination of the renaissance desire of the restoration of the Classical Civilization. The Opera specifically revives the Ancient Greek tragedy. And since so many other countries have developed this art tremendously, perhaps the time has come for our country, which has in its arsenal the language and culture that inspired this particular “marriage of the muses” as the poets describe it, to approach this type of music seriously and help make the Opera modern again and in interaction with society.
