More about the event:
Antilogos Theater, in collaboration with Kostas Silvestros, attempted for the first time in the cypriot theatrical affairs, to present the emblematic play of Samuel Beckett "Waiting for Godot" in the Cypriot dialect, Greek and Turkish and through this prominent world drama, the two dialects merge and become one. The intense need for communication of the two heroes, removes every obstacle in their communication, even that of language.
The director placed the two heroes of the play on the green line in Nicosia and had the ingenious idea of being embodied by a Greek Cypriot and a Turkish Cypriot, one speaking in Greek and the other in Turkish, each in his own dialect. All they do is wait for Godot, the days, and nights pass, and they just wait. In the eyes of the spectator unfolds the theater of the absurd, a way of living life in Cyprus for so many years. There is nothing political in the plot of the play, no political dialogue, yet the play itself is a huge political message.
