UNCLE VANYA
Anton Chekhov, Y. Voglis – Y. Fertis – St. Mainas, Greece
Direction: Lilly Meleme
Strange and eccentric with a sense of alienation, Uncle Vanya is unique among Chekhov's major plays. The characters are consumed with lethargic boredom and each one of them expresses individual regrets over their unsatisfactory life, in a continuous process of bemoaning their old age, and expressing their distress and despair of their lost love. Here we have a Vanya that is beautiful and sad, full of worthy performances and a sense of death which is accompanied by a rich sense of life.
