About the event:
The play revolves around a director, who is invited to stage Hamlet, and an actor; exploring the ups and downs of their working relationship. It begins with a calm and simple introduction, followed by efforts to reveal the non-existent through various methods, finally delving into the desire to do/tell, that becomes an atrocity. Some can only exist through death… or maybe, if you lack a sense of identity, you are bound to become a puppet. Fundamentally, it’s a question of merit… To face the fact that the right people are not in the right places… To ask, “What is talent?”… The actor, who was “discovered”, realises too late that they are only a cog in an inherently broken system… The director kills in order to resurrect… Confessions! When do actions amount to anything?

From the heart of Cyprus, developed by a multicultural team of theatre professionals, this play is setting sail to meet new cultures. In essence, this play, with its Greek and Turkish speaking Cypriot actors, aims to break lingual, religious, ethnic and other conceptual barriers, and to travel across the world, after premiering in a divided Cyprus. Peace cannot be achieved through a politician’s signature on a declaration, but through people creating together. Creativity is also a result of peace.
