"UNKNOWN FRIEND" BASED ON THE STORY IN LETTERS BY I. BUNIN.
"Unknown Friend" is one of the shortest stories by Bunin. A story told through letters, which modern admirers of the writer have managed to turn into a captivating performance: the great actress Ksenia RAPPOPORT, famous pianist POLINA OSSETINSKAYA, and director VALERY GALENDEEV.
Fourteen letters from a married woman, a mother of four children living abroad, to an imaginary lover, the author of her favorite books, the "unknown friend" – this is the content of the little-known masterpiece by Bunin, written in the mid-1920s in the seaside Alps. The creators of the performance turned this into a one-and-a-half-hour masterpiece, a diamond of delicate work, exquisite and flawless.
Two dazzlingly beautiful and sensual, aristocratic and intelligent, charming and impeccably elegant women, dressed with a subtle, unobtrusive hint of the era, appear on stage simultaneously. Between them, one can clearly feel a kinship of souls, a shared attitude towards life, and the similarity of their fates...
