We will have the pleasure to enjoy the Vasilis Tsitsanis Orchestra that was recently founded following his family’s and Seed Point’s, the creator’s music publisher, initiative, with the support of the music production company, Prospero, in September in Lemesos at the Ancient Theatre οf Kourio, with the two great performers, Dimitra Galani and Natassa Bofiliou. The songs of the most significant composer of greek folk music that keep their power and impact unabated and continue to fascinate us, are presented by two outstanding singers and an orchestra of sublime musicians working on Tsitsanis’ creations for many years.

The first presentation of the Vasilis Tsitsanis Orchestra and this specific programme took place at the beginning of December at the Athens Megaron and marked a huge success. Two sold out performances that enthused the crowd and the critics at the Thessaloniki Megaron followed. For these performances two very special voices μeet for the first time on stage and sang the beloved songs of Vasilis Tsitsanis in their own unique way. Dimitra Galani, a grand artist that for more than 40 years has been a star of greek music with her diligence, insightfulness and the quality of her musical choices, and whom Tsitsanis had chosen as the performer of his songs and Natassa Bofiliou, the most important and loved contemporary performer who stands out for her talent and her very unique performance identity.

For the first time, an orchestra oriented on the work of the brilliant and innovative composer, songwriter and bouzouki expert who bestowed us with a work of rare quality, skill and tastefulness, without which Greek music would be different today, is created. Vasilis Tsitsanis went through a creative period of 45 years of constant presence on stage surrounded until the end of his life by gifted musicians fulfilling his deep need of communicating with the crowd and getting inspired by it. That exact fixation of Tsitsanis on the right presentation of his songs is served by the orchestra named after him. It’s main target is the promotion of his work of art through live performances inside and outside of Greece under the guidance of Manolis Pappos, the bouzouki virtuoso and appreciator of the great creator’s work.
