The Cyprus International Film Festival “Golden Aphrodite” holds the EFFE Label “Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe”. The EFFE Label is Europe’s quality stamp for remarkable arts festivals showing their engagement in the field of the arts, community involvement and international openness.

This year we celebrate the arts by taking a turn to where tradition meets contemporary Art. The awards are ceramic sculptures due to the island’s rich history and tradition, created by the artists Leni Loizou and Michail Christofinis who are inspired by the original statuette of Golden Aphrodite. They are stoneware ceramic sculptures handmade, double fired and glazed at 1200 degrees Celsious, a time consuming process involving earth, water, fire and air to create a uniquely beautiful and organic result. The artists worked for two months to complete this process in collaboration with local artists and businesses.

The Cyprus International Film Festival, in support of the Karaiskakion Foundation, will provide for the entire festival a space for the voluntary sampling of bone marrow donors.

The Festival thanks the Municipalities of Strovolos and Nicosia, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism,  the National Mechanism for Women's Rights,  the Foundation Women in Film and Television-Cyprus, the Organization for European Programmes and Cultural Relations, Opap Cyprus, Ardgon Advertising  and the Embassy of Italy in Cyprus  for their cooperation.
