A colourful ritual by Nama Dama as part of the Nicosia 2030 actions
Nicosia 2030, candidate for European Capital of Culture as part of its goal to support young artists presents Nama Dama with special guest, young artist Alexa Michael. The performance will take place on 10 November 2024 (20:30), at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre.
The ecstatic voice of Nama Dama will flood the Nicosia Municipal Theatre with the music of her new album "Pagan Soul", which is released this winter. This is a woman's musical performance, an amalgam of pagan folk motifs, woven together with soul-pop vocals and electronic textures through live looping.

During her performances, Nama Dama balances between human roots and the current world order, shedding light on the ongoing war in her second home country, Ukraine, and displacement, while discussing the importance of paganism and our relationship with nature. Through her compositions, Nama Dama offers a colourful ritual that exists in the here and now. She performs songs while playing keyboards, recorder and percussion.
For the Nicosia International Festival, Nama Dama will share the stage with young up-and-coming artist Alexa Michael. Alexa's music captivates listeners with a blend of deeply personal narratives and universally relatable themes performed with authenticity and sensitivity. Her songs journey exploring the complexities of love and life with an empowering twist - encouraging self-expression, strength, resilience and independence. As a new generation artist, Alexa aims to bring a fresh perspective to the music industry and contribute to a dynamic musical landscape that reflects the diverse experiences and voices of young people today.
The concert is part of the UNDER30 Program, which is exclusively addressed to Cypriot artists under the age of 30. Alongside artists of international renown, the Festival has a tradition of presenting Cypriot artists, both established and young, wishing to systematically support young creators in their first steps.
