About the event:
In an era when Artificial Intelligence is infiltrating all fields of human activity and becoming an inseparable part of our daily lives, The Emperor's Dilemma aims to speak to audiences young and old—with sensitivity and humor—about the contrasts between the virtual and real worlds and the challenges that arise from their interaction.
More about the event:
The play’s text is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale The Nightingale. The adaptation brings a fresh, modern perspective, filled with sensitivity and generous doses of humor, resulting in a show that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking. Actors bring the story to life through physical theater techniques, focusing on expressiveness, movement, dance, and voice. With a dynamic pace, intense physicality, and clever dialogues, the Hippo theater group creates a blend of hilarious yet moving moments.
During the performance, there are designated points where children are invited to participate in the storytelling within a safe, welcoming environment. This encourages interaction, emotional engagement, and intellectual reflection.
Key questions explored in the show:
The performance won second prize at the international STRUS festival for children and youth in Lviv, Ukraine, in October 2021. The play’s text is available from Dodoni Publications.
