Directed by Mike Baulch, The Three Musketeers is based (with a few slight variations!) on the classic tale written by Alexandre Dumas. The young, brash d’Artagnan, frustrated by his life on a Gascony pig farm, sets off for Paris to enlist as a Musketeer, closely followed by his mother, Desiree, who is firmly opposed to the idea and is determined to entice him back to the farm . Immediately on his arrival in Paris, d’Artagnan finds two things; love in the form of Constance, lady in waiting to the Queen, and trouble, in the form of The Three Musketeers whom he rashly challenges to a duel.

WE ARE BACK!! After the events of the past couple of years what better way to celebrate getting back on stage than with a Christmas pantomime – a chance for all the family to enjoy a trip to the theatre to see a performance which has something for everyone.
We know Christmas is almost upon us when children, instead of being told to sit quietly and listen are actively encouraged to shout and answer back to the actors on stage during act’s annual pantomime extravanza. act’s Christmas production has, after thirty years, become an established part of the Nicosia cultural scene with frequent audience comments such as “coming to the Pantomime feels like the start of Christmas” and after being unable to perform last year it feels very special to be back rehearsing for this year’s production.
Meanwhile the scheming Cardinal Richelieu plots to overthrow the King of France and rule in his place. He gets the foreign agent, Malady de Splinter to devise a way to disgrace the King and bring about his downfall.
When the Queen is kidnapped and thrown in the Bastille dungeons, and the Coronation jewels are stolen, things look bleak for the King. Will d’Artagnan, The Three Musketeers and their unlikely comrade-in-arms Desiree d’Artagnan, succeed in rescuing the Queen and finding the jewels, so thwarting the evil ambitions of Richelieu? What if they come face to face with the ghost that lurks in the Bastille dungeon? And what has a chap called Plonqueur to do with all this? This year’s pantomime has a decidedly French flavour, with most of the action taking place in Paris and it is even rumoured that a troupe of French Can-Can dancers are making an appearance...
The Three Musketeers contains all the magical elements of a traditional Christmas pantomime – fantasy, humour, the battle between good and evil, some very exciting sword fights and lots of singing and dancing - courtesy of the London School of Ballet, and no less than four principal boys!
Our charity for this production is Cans for Kids, founded in 1990 and the only organisation which collects metal recyclables from urban centres as well as from rural areas, while actively encouraging the participation of schools and young people in sustainable living, as well as volunteerism. All proceeds from their recycling work go towards to buying medical equipment for the children's wards at Cypriot hospitals with donations to date totalling almost €300,000.
So….come and enjoy the show whilst supporting a very worthwhile children’s charity, alongside the hospitals which have been the frontline in battling the Covid pandemic.
Performances are at the Russian Cultural Centre on Saturday 11 December (3pm & 7.30pm) and Sunday 12 December (11am & 3pm).
Tickets €12 or €8 for children aged 4-12 years. Tickets on sale from www.SoldoutTicketbox.com or from Stephanis stores throughout Cyprus
