About the event:

Two years after the premiere of The Yellow Wallpaper at Aigaia Theater and six months after its presentation at Greece’s National Theater, this beloved production returns with a slightly reimagined version at Ktirion 53.

Based on the novella by American author Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the play draws from diary entries written by a young woman struggling with what appears to be postpartum depression. Her husband, a physician, isolates her in a country house to enforce a "rest cure" for what he labels a "temporary nervous depression—a slight hysterical tendency"—a diagnosis commonly assigned to women of that era. Confined to a nursery, he prohibits her from all creative work, imposing a strict regimen of diet, medication, and electrotherapy while also forbidding contact with familiar people, including her own child.

Η υπόθεση:
Ο Γιωργής, ένα από τα τέσσερα παιδιά μιας οικογένειας στη Βιζύη της ανατολικής Θράκης, αφηγείται, ως ενήλικας πια, την ασθένεια της αδερφής του Αννιώς και τη μάταιη προσπάθεια της χήρας μητέρας τους για να τη σώσει, παραμελώντας τα άλλα τρία παιδιά της και εξανεμίζοντας το «βιός» τους. Όταν τελικά το κορίτσι πεθαίνει, η μητέρα σπεύδει να υιοθετήσει ένα άλλο και όταν αυτό παντρεύεται, υιοθετεί ακόμα ένα, παρά τη δυσαρέσκεια των γιών της και τις οικονομικές τους δυσκολίες. Στο τέλος, η μητέρα εξομολογείται στον Γιωργή πως η εμμονή της με τις υιοθεσίες μικρών κοριτσιών οφείλεται στην ενοχή της για ένα αμάρτημα που διέπραξε στα νιάτα της και στον αγώνα της για να εξιλεωθεί από αυτό.

Η φετινή Καλλιτεχνική Βραδιά του Grammar School, Λευκωσίας είναι αφιερωμένη στα 50 χρόνια κατοχής. 

Μια ιστορία πενήντα χρόνων, μια ιστορία δεσμών, αφοσίωσης και πίστης. Μια φιλία 50 χρόνων που δοκιμάστηκε στον χρόνο και δυνάμωσε. Ένας πόλεμος που μετά δυσκολίας περάσαμε αλλά δεν ξεχάσαμε. Με την ανησυχία του τι θα μας φέρει το αύριο… και όμως τα καταφέραμε.

Το Σατιρικό θέατρο παρουσιάζει το συνταρακτικό έργο «O Φάρος» του πολυβραβευμένου Ιρλανδού συγγραφέα Conor McPherson, σε μετάφραση Κωνσταντίνου Μαρκουλάκη – Αθανασίας Σμαραγδή και σκηνοθεσία Νεοκλή Νεοκλέους.

Aleksey Potekhin, the founder and author of most of the mega-hits of the legendary group "Ruki Vverkh!", is coming to Cyprus for the first time with the program "Podnimaem Ruki Vverh".

After a successful year of eight classical music concerts, Technopolis 20 Classics closes the season—and the year—with an extraordinary finale featuring the Amalgamation Choir. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the all-female a capella Amalgamation Choir presents a series of unique performances exploring the transformative essence of clay (πηλός) through the power of group singing. The debut of this new programme will take place at Markideio Theatre on Friday, 13 December 2024, at 8 pm.

In this concert, the Amalgamation choir invites the audience on a journey through the elements that breathe life into clay: soil, water, and air. Each element plays a vital role in shaping and transforming clay, just as these forces influence our own human experiences. Through songs of love, despair, hope, and gratitude, Amalgamation explores how these three essential elements can mirror growth, resilience, and transformation in our lives.

The day for the concert with the excellent a capella choir "Amalgamation choir" is approaching.

Ήταν το 2012, όταν ακούστηκε για πρώτη φορά σε έναν ιταλικό ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό η ιστορία των Lehman Brothers. Λίγα χρόνια μετά, ένας από τους πλέον σημαντικότερους μυθιστοριογράφους και θεατρικούς συγγραφείς της Ιταλίας, ο Stefano Massini στη «Lehman Trilogy» δημιουργεί ένα τεράστιο μωσαϊκό 164 χρόνων, όπου μαζί με τα μεγάλα γεγονότα της Ιστορίας του 19ου, 20ου και 21ου αιώνα, καταγράφει πως τρεις Γερμανοί - Εβραίοι μετανάστες καταφθάνουν από τη Βαυαρία της Γερμανίας στην Αλαμπάμα, ξεκινώντας τις επιχειρήσεις τους από ένα μικρό μαγαζί με υφάσματα και κοστούμια, για να καταλήξουν στη δημιουργία ενός τεράστιου χρηματοπιστωτικού κολοσσού, που έχει ως αντίκτυπο το 2008, την κατάρρευση της παγκόσμιας οικονομίας με τρομερές συνέπειες στις ζωές των απλών ανθρώπων. “The Lehman Trilogy” είναι κάτι πολύ περισσότερο από την ιστορία τριών αδερφών, είναι η καταγραφή της ανόδου και της πτώσης του αμερικανικού ονείρου, είναι μια αλληγορία της ιστορίας του αμερικανικού καπιταλισμού.
