2025 marks the Bicentenary of the birth of the great Johann Strauss, an incredibly successful composer best known for his Viennese waltzes and operettas which earned him the undisputed title “The Waltz King” and became the symbol of Vienna .

Μια ιστορία βασισμένη στα παραμύθια τους Χανς Κρίστιαν Άντερσεν «ΤΑ ΚΑΙΝΟΥΡΙΑ ΡΟΥΧΑ ΤΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΙΑ» και «Η ΜΙΚΡΗ ΓΟΡΓΟΝΑ». Η Άριελ προσπαθεί με κάθε τρόπο να αφήσει τη ζωή της στο βυθό, να αποκτήσει πόδια και να βρεθεί στη στεριά παρέα με τους ανθρώπους. Οταν επιτέλους τα καταφέρνει συναντά τον βασιλιά της χώρας, που το μόνο που τον ενδιαφέρει είναι να φορά κάθε μέρα καινούρια ρούχα. Δύο απατεώνες ράφτες προσπαθούν να τον ξεγελάσουν, ράβοντάς του «αόρατα ρούχα», με σκοπό να αποκτήσουν τον πλούτο του βασιλείου κάτι που η Άριελ δεν πρόκειται να επιτρέψει. Θα καταφέρει άραγε ο βασιλιάς να δει την πραγματική αλήθεια και να αλλάξει για πάντα στάση ζωής;

«Домашние монстры» - это история, которая произошла в самом обычном доме. Хотя такой ли он обычный, если его заполнили вредные, но забавные соседи: один из них постоянно занимает ванную комнату и поет там арии, другой проводит странные эксперименты на чердаке, третьи выпивают весь кофе, а что делают остальные, даже неудобно рассказать. Кажется, что они настоящие монстры! А когда в доме живут такие существа, жизнь превращается в… забавное приключение.

The newly established group Nābu Pēra and the musical performance “Soundscapes of Nicosia" are being presented by Nicosia 2030, candidate city for the European Capital of Culture, on February 11, 2025 (20:30), at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. The performance, inspired by the urban soundscape of Nicosia, is part of the 5^th Nicosia International Festival... never ends.

The musical ensemble features musicians Savvas Thoma, Natasa Hadjiandreou, and Dimitris Yiasemidis, who explore the sounds of the city they live and work in, offering the audience a unique musical experience, whose main goal is to redefine the relationship between modern individuals and the auditory environment that surrounds them.

The unsurpassed genius A.P. Chekhov is again on the Cyprus stage together with the Ostrov Theater!

The play is a joke about a landowner's widow, whose 7-month mourning was disrupted by a retired lieutenant who came to demand the debt of her late husband. A dispute breaks out between them, during which the lieutenant challenges the woman to a duel! How will this deadly adventure end?

A familiar fairy tale in a new interpretation from the artists of the Ostrov Theater!

A production about a little girl who bravely fought a dangerous wolf, based on the play by the incomparable E. Schwartz, which will be of interest to both children and their parents

The performance teaches the young viewer that through joint efforts good can triumph over evil, which, in fact, is very small and insignificant

This is a heartfelt story about friendship and mutual assistance, peppered with jokes, dances and songs written by the composer specifically for our project.

All children can have their photo taken with the actors at the end of the performance.

About the event:

Nicosia 2030, a candidate for the European Capital of Culture, as part of its mission to showcase the work of Cypriot creators excelling abroad, presents the Cyprus premiere of Andys Skordis’ work “β”. The concert will take place on Thursday, 6 February 2025 (20:30), in the framework of the 5th Nicosia International Festival 2024.

“β” is an interdisciplinary performance featuring four musicians, a conductor/electronics and live VJ performer(s?). The music unfolds as a cycle of seven pieces, including four larger works separated by short electronic interludes. The performance is defined by its music, lighting, text, and moving images, forming a ritual that evolves through three stages: Preparation – Event – Catharsis.
